Mountain
Man Bronzes by B R Pettit presents the largest collection of mountain man art by Arizona artist
BR (Bill) Pettit to be found anywhere. Though Bill Pettit passed away in 2006, there remains a significant
group of original bronze sculptures.
Known best for his monumental work "William Shirley Williams" a statue of Ole Bill Williams
that stands as a sentinel to the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon" in Williams, AZ,
Pettit is part of an elite group of Arizona artists that have their sculptures displayed outdoors by an
Arizona city government.
The monument unveiled by Senator Barry Goldwater in 1980, has become a Route 66 icon.
Pettit's work was owned by President Ronald Reagan and was displayed in the Oval Office throughout his terms
in office. The bronze sculpture "Ole Bill Williams" is currently in the collection of the Ronald Reagan
Presidential Library. Pettit's western art depicting mountain men and native americans in the
cowboy art gendre has been shown in Sedona, AZ and collected all over the Southwest.
Public support is demanding that many of the Western art
motif and mountain men pieces be made available in limited editions. Please browse the gallery pages
found on this site and then call or email for availability.
